What do you look for in a model?
Unlike most photography studios, Show Your Pride Photography © uses models who represent the entire range of humanity. We believe that beauty is more than just good looks and a winning smile. Beauty can be found in a tattoo or piercing, contrasting skin tones between two models, a graceful movement, a young adult learning about his/her sexuality, or a mature adult confident in who they are. Beauty transcends sexual orientation and can be found in the expression of passion and love of all kinds. We do not discriminate based upon sex, sexual orientation, or other shallow concerns.
What makes a good model?
We at Show Your Pride Photography © seek models who represent all aspects of society and are not locked into the conventional ideas of what makes this or that person beautiful.
A good model is not just a passive body that the artist molds and arranges, but a dynamic individual who brings his or her own personality, creativity, and life experiences to the shoot. It is the goal of every photographer to capture the inner life, fire, and essence of their model and lock it within one photographic image. While static, the photo should vibrate with the life it captured.
You may feel that you do not have "what it takes" to be a good model. People often assume that it takes only youth, a good figure, and flawless skin to get a good photograph. It is important to have an open mind. Time and life leave their marks on all of us, and it is these marks that are an essential expressive element in a shoot. Bringing your ideas and expressiveness will help ensure that the photos transcend from the ordinary to the exceptional.
What are the requirements?
Because the majority of our photography involves some nudity and eroticism, models must be 18 or older and have a valid photo ID. There can be no exceptions to this rule. Other than that, models must be comfortable with who they are.
What happens during a shoot?
A model shoot generally is a three-part process. Generally, the shoot begins with the model fully clothed, and shots tend to be taken in similar style of GQ or Vanity Fair magazines. At this stage, emphasis is given to the model's personality and overall style. Models are encouraged to bring clothing that enhances their appearance, and emphasize who they are.
As the shoot progresses into the second stage, more of the model is revealed. Shots take on the style of Abercrombie and Fitch, Maxim, or Cosmo magazines. The photographers will attempt to merge the inner and outer beauty of the model. The shots tend to be erotic and provocative without being too explicit.
The third stage, for those models that are comfortable with themselves, moves into the realm of the full nude. Depending upon the models, shots can range from erotic to very uninhibited. Models are given a lot of freedom to express themselves, and the photographers tend to guide only where the quality of the shot can be heightened. Pictures taken during this stage are generally reserved for the adult sections of the site, and are not accessible to the general public.
Show Your Pride Photography© prides itself on seeking the unusual or artistic shot whenever possible. Models are urged to bring clothing and props that add creativity to the shoot. This not only separates the models from each other, but also separates the model from the usual and propels him or her into the realm of the unique. Is that not the purpose of all art?
What do the Photographers do during the shoot?
Our photographers work in a professional and timely manner. It is essential that a sense of trust exists between the model and photographer, and therefore, shoots tend to be strictly "hands off." Meaning that the models will be instructed on how to position, the photographer will not do it for them.
Do models get paid?
Show Your Pride Photography © pays the models for each shoot. The amount paid depends upon several factors, including the experience of the model, the time of shoot, type of photography, and other factors. Payment is agreed upon before the shoot begins and the model is paid immediately after satisfactory completion of the shoot.
Do you do private photos and videos?
Show Your Pride Photography © will do private photography and videos for individuals, couples, and groups, who want to have a professional style video and/or photos made without worrying about them being released to the general public.
